Prostate cancer is an ever present problem in the modern lexicon of stuff that can go wrong.
On top of this is the problem that most men seem to have of some kind of stubborn gene that seems to kick in at an early age and never kick out!
Most prostate conditions can be dealt with quite quickly and effectively but the real problem is that all of these strategies rely on an early diagnosis that something needs to be done in the first place.
Men just are not natural “go to the doctor” kind of people and seem to prefer going of into the woods to die quietly alone and not cause any bother.
Well men here’s the deal.
We do not do that anymore and your idea that you will quietly slip off the heal your wounds is somewhat out of date.
Go to the doctor and get a check done.
The Truth About Sugar – BBC Documentary
Whilst it is pretty easy these days to get agreement regarding the adverse effects of sugar on the human body it is never a waste of time to bone up on some facts.
Because like global warming and a myriad of other issues facing the world, the continuation of behaviour regardless of its destructiveness is tied heavily in with profits.
We live in a time unlike any before where the degree of control and influence exerted by business interests has never been larger.
That control has made it’s way through to our governments like never before and the sheer volume of PR and marketing with which the public is being assaulted makes identification of the real information more and more difficult.
Take the global warming issue as an example.
All parties interested in refuting this concept have paid huge amounts of money to PR and advertising firms to try to kill off the story.
Failing that they have fallen back to the position of an outright lie but remember, if you keep telling the lie over and over it takes on the mantle of fact.
Their catch cry of “The jury is still out on it” is an outright lie.
No, the jury is not out on it!
99% of scientists have drawn their conclusions based on the data and the jury is in, global warming is real.
However the denialists have effectively gotten “the jury is still out” out into the public domain so that many, many of the public actually believe it because they have hard it so often and from so many sources.
So below is a BBC report on sugar, all science and fact wrapped up nicely.
Watch it and get the information because you know sooner or later the sugar industry and “Big Food” and Big Ag” will find their own catchphrase with which to fool the public.
And remember, the public are easily fooled.
More on the Microbiome
It seems these days to be an almost daily occurrence that I come across some kind of article relating to the effect our microbiome has on our general health.
It may possibly be the last frontier in achieving a breakthrough on a number of fronts and may in fact be the complete explanation of declining health in modern society.
As advanced as the medical profession has become it is interesting to note (but not surprising) that just about everything is coming back to the subject of nutrition and what that really means.
Before we used to think of it as simple nourishing the body so that it did what we wanted it to do.
That kind of simplistic view has allowed so many questionable products to become part of our daily lives and with a decline in wellbeing.
Because you see the real “thing” that we haven’t been feeding is our gut. We used to think that the gut was a mechanism for processing and absorbing food.
But that is now seen to be so far from the whole story it would be funny if it weren’t such a tragedy.
Just as we need the microbiome to feed us we also need to be feeding it in a way that promotes diversity and abundance because doing otherwise is to invite all sorts of problems and I suspect problems we don’t yet realize are coming from that source.
I thought this was both an interesting study and article on the subject of texting and driving although as usual they get a little caught up in brain and ignore mind altogether.
I guess that’s the problem with any science coming out of the medical profession in that they have to categorize everything or “see” everything in terms of their own field.
A great example of this is that with the doctors you get everything happening as a result of brain function yet with quantum physicists you get the idea that the brain is the brain and there is a thing called a mind separate to that.
One science locked in its worldview and the other open to all sorts of possibilities.
Anyway the article itself goes into driving and what kinds of distractions are more likely to cause accidents and, no surprises here, texting is up there as the worst.
The question remains as to why and I think it has to do with the subject of knowing.
If you take the average kid learning to tie his shoelaces it starts of with a little information, demonstration and being taken through the process step by step.
This is learning and the child is beginning to “know about” that activity. With time, practice and repetition the child gets to a point where he :knows all about” it and can easily do the action.
More repetition follows and now the child can do it without thinking about it but this is till just a high level pf “knowing about” it.
If someone were to start talking to him while he is doing it he would have to stop, deal with the communication and then resume the action.
Finally he or she reaches a point where they can tie their shoelaces and any number of other distractions can come in to potentially interrupt that activity yet they do not.
It is at that point where the child has attained a state of “know” on the subject of tying shoelaces.
It is no longer information or action he knows about, it is now something that he knows and is part of him.
This is a very simple example to illustrate the point.
Now when we get to an activity that is as complex as driving a car it is likely that the majority of people are and always will be in the “know about” stage.
They will never get to the “know” point because of complexity of action and the endless sources of random motion and events that can occur.
It is precisely because of this that any activity when driving should not be undertaken. The only thing you should be doing when you are driving, is driving!
Some Natural Acne Remedies
The actual fixed content part of this site outside these weekly health roundups is the subject of acne.
If you were looking for a modern condition that’s on the rise and has multiple million dollar industries attached to it then this is the one!
It is a subject that has had so much false information written about it is hard to comprehend.
So I have linked to an article below because it has some good skincare tips on it as well as a few diet suggestions but bear this is mind.
The whole idea that acne is a skin problem is the exact point at which any hope of effective treatment is effectively blocked.
As soon as you start dealing with acne as a skin problem you are effectively screwed.
Acne certainly presents itself as a skin problem and certainly “looks” like it is a skin problem but that’s just looking at the obvious… as usual.
Skin care companies want you to look at it that way and doctors are not much better.
So in reading the article below bear in mind these are not cures to acne or real treatments of acne.
They are just some suggestions on how to deal with an existing outbreak effectively and naturally and how to reduce the effects of acne overall.
The real cure of acne goes much deeper than the skin.
OK, these things are out and out nasty.
At least with conventional cigarettes you get a clear idea of what is in them that is going to kill you plus a reasonable prediction on the various ways they will kill you.
There is comfort in certainty.
These fake cigarettes are just downright nasty and given the complete lack of control over their production you might as well be buy crack from that addict down the street.
Really, people, please don’t ever look at these things as if they are somehow harmless or “not that bad”… they are.
