Teen Sleep Deprivation
The headline of this article just screams common sense doesn’t it?
The problem with common sense is that it is not all that common really.
Years ago there was a great deal of emphasis put on the subject of scheduling by the average parent.
They may not really have known much about what they were doing but they very often knew what it was they were supposed to do.
In light of that they knew that kids were supposed to keep a schedule.
Get up at a certain time, eat at certain times and go to bed at certain times to get sufficient sleep.
They may not have had a mountain of science to back them up but they somehow knew this was the natural order of things.
It always amuses me when I see article like the one below that finally works out something our parents knew long ago, regular schedules and sufficient sleep for kids and teenagers is vital.

Autoimmune Disease Triggers
There are more than 50 million Americans living with an autoimmune disease (a condition in which one’s immune system attacks healthy tissue), and 75% are women, according to the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association.
Some of the more than 100 identified autoimmune diseases include myositis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Crohn’s disease.
Diagnosis can take several years, especially when symptoms are not taken seriously and/or the patient is made to feel by his or her friends or family that the symptoms are all “in one’s head,” contributing to patients feeling uncertain about their own symptoms and questioning their knowledge about their own bodies.
Opioid Painkiller Study
One of the great medical problems faced by doctors over the years has always been that of pain control.
On one hand they are presented with patients suffering chronic pain, sometimes to the degree that it is adversely affecting their mental health and on the other hand they have drugs they know may be doing more harm than good.
It is surprising to see in the article below just how lacking the average doctor is in information as to what the real dangers are in terms of prescribing strong painkillers especially with regards to long term pain management.
It’s All About the Booty
Usually when I add something to my Weekly tips roundup I think it is important to at least add something to the conversation or add something that reveals why I have included that particular piece of information. In this case I am not so sure that is necessary, some things are awesome all by themselves!
Probiotic Face Mask
OK I am not really sure just how effective probiotics are when applied to the skin… but… if it doesn’t work out so well you I guess you could always slice up a little fresh fruit and have it for a snack!
