More Blueberry Goodness
You know it’s not as though you really need much of an excuse to eat a bunch more blueberries… but just in case here are some good healthy justifications.
Apparently they are also good for heart health and more particularly can have a dramatic effect on blood pressure.
So a handful of blueberries on an oat based cereal in the morning is a hell of a way to kick off every day with a flavor and health boost.
Winter Fruit and Veges That Have had a Bad Rap
Now that some of us are heading into the colder months of the year it’s a good time to remind ourselves of some of the great winter food that will come our way.
I think sadly many of what’s on offer during the winter has suffered from bad marketing more than anything else and we are often led to believe they are somehow boring or “heavy.”
The truth is that there are some wonderful winters foods around and they are not only great to eat if handled with care, they are good for you.
At a bare minimum I get to enjoy at least one article like this every week!
I mean really, are we still at the point where these horrid chemical ingredients are in any way acceptable?
It still amazes me that food manufacturers, and I use the term food very loosely, still think it is OK to just add any old crap to the food chain on the sole basis that it makes their manufacturing process easier, faster or cheaper.
It’s pretty easy to make blanket statements that home cooking or cooking at home is somehow better for us all of the time.
Like everything in life that is not always true. If your home cooking is restricted to vegetables boiled to death and an endless array of greasy fried concoctions then simply saying it is better because it was home cooked is kind of silly.

Sometimes it seems they are the ultimate creatures of habit and getting them to branch out can be challenging to say the least.
Of course it is important to do this because in the end their ability to enjoy a wide variety of foods will not only make their lives richer it will also increase their chances of making healthy choices.
Take a look at this article for some excellent tips on strategies to make new foods something a little less burdensome.

Is Borax Safe?
As is usually the case with the interwebs, it doesn’t really take much to get some “latest fact” (usually of an alarming nature) to begin circulating touting the dangers of this or that.
Of course as we all know, if it gets repeated on the internet three times, it must be true!
One of the current darlings of the “everything is going to kill you” genre is that of Borax.
Apparently it seems to be a miracle cleaner and a deadly toxin as well. So what’s the real story? Take a look at this article for a measured and clear separation between fact, fiction and general confusion.
