Heal Your Digestion
It seems these days it is pretty easy to get your entire digestive system out of whack.
With an abundance of food and food products around that have been produced or processed and presented with the sole purpose of “sale” rather than nutrition.
Modified strains of wheat, chemically enhanced or altered crops and foodstuff the list goes on.
For the average person this just translates into a digestive system in disarray and all the discomfort that brings.
Here are 10 easy things you can do to begin the road to recovery and getting that whole system back on track.
Is it the Tequila?
OK so everyone has that one type of alcohol that tends to have a greater impact on their behaviour than others.
Tequila makes me crazy, wine makes me cry blah, blah, blah.
The truth is that all alcohol is the same alcohol and it really makes no difference which one you have.
More than likely in a crazy setting you may be more likely to get into the tequila and go crazy along with everyone else!
FoodBabe Attacked… again.
Boy, Vani over at FoodBabe really comes in for a pounding sometimes!
This week another hatchet job orchestrated by Big Food to try and discredit her in the eyes of the world.
Of course these idiots just don’t “get” the internet do they?
I mean she is a reasonably well informed blogger who takes information and tests it against logic, against established information and applies a little commonsense to it.
That’s all she does really.
Unfortunately Big Food doesn’t know how to deal with that in cases where she exposes them and their little lies or their biased information.
You see before the internet she would never have been able to garner an audience and even if she did, Big Food could outgun her on budget alone in any media skirmish.
The bad news for them currently is that they can’t just steamroll anyone that questions them anymore by using dirty PR tactics because almost immediately those tactics get exposed to the world.
You see this repeat over and over and they still don’t get it.
Hot Sauce Saves!
So if I read this correctly, Hot Sauce can lead to severe dehydration resulting in a trip to hospital, prompting a checkup that ultimately reveals a brain tumor in its early stages.
Man has tumor removed and lives happily ever after.
Good story as a “one off” but not really a recommended health care regime.
Save the Chocolate
I would urge all right thinking people of the earth to immediately track down the organization mentioned in this article and personally make sure their important work keeps going.
Volunteer, make a donation or if you are an English citizen make strong representations to your local member of Parliament that this work, regardless of economic, political or ideological conditions simply must continue without regard for cost.
It is vital to our survival as a species.
Kraft Singles are Healthy… apparently.
Quite a few articles this week on the subject of truth in advertising, or at least truth in packaging.
This one is a classic where the American Dietetic Association has allowed Kraft to add there Seal to the packaging of Kraft Singles.
Now of course once it’s there everyone thinks that they are saying those Kraft Singles are somehow “approved” by them… but no!
Apparently the have allowed Kraft to add it for certain financial “considerations.
So the other day I was with a friend and she is a vegetarian.
We were at here usual health food kind of place and she was buying some kind of fake meat stuff that is made of, well… stuff.
Now prior to that I had just read the blog post linked below on FoodBabe so I asked my friend what the fake meat stuff was made of.
She began to tell me about the all the awesome benefits of her fake meat stuff and I thought well that’s OK but really, what’s actually in the fake meat stuff.
Eventually she admitted she knew it was based somehow on soy protein… stuff.
So I made her actually read the BACK of the pack rather than the front where it was plastered with words like “All Natural” and “No Animal Products” and other reassuring things.
The bottom line was that she could not actually read most of the ingredients and certainly had no idea what they were.
The only thing that we could actually conclude that was the ingredients list was more like a university chemistry paper than a description of contents for a food product.
Walk Your Cares Away
This is an interesting article I found this week and happens to tie in with my own personal beliefs about a number of things.
Very often we are provided with information from “authority” sources that make just enough sense for us to take on board without question but very often if you think about it… it may not be quite a clear cut as you originally thought.
Take the argument regarding salt for example.
A while back there were “studies done” regarding heart disease and from those studies the world went mad on low sodium diets.
OK, I am willing to go along with that as long as the other side of the coin is examined as well.
You see a high salt diet can only result in higher concentrations of salt in the body if there is insufficient water intake.
Your body uses available water and available salts to keep things in a perpetually self correcting state of balance.
Too much salt and not enough water upsets things, an ordinary amount of salt and not enough water upsets things and too much water without replacing salts upsets things as well.
This can be applied to any number of “modern” do’s and don’ts which brings me to the article I have linked to.
For a long time people recognized that when someone was feeling depressed, defeated or a bit low, their posture would slump at least to some degree.
So if you flip the idea the other way, if you are feeling low, straighten up, adopt a purposeful gait and pretty soon you may find yourself feeling a whole lot better!
