The Green One has to Be Better!
It really is a world of marketing that we live in these days.
I have come across so many articles this week and just about every week for that matter where the influence of marketing through either advertising campaigns, information campaigns or packaging has been the whole reason for the existence of some product or another.
The article below is yet another example of how easily we are manipulated by visual stimulation rather than by the gathering of information and relevant facts.
This latest example was a test by Aldi in their organic chain of stores.
They simply offered their customers a yogurt packaged in a green container and a red one.
The obvious answer to this question for all of us would be that in an organic store scenario (or any other for that matter) the one in the green would be perceived as healthier regardless of the contents.
You know that right?
Yet at the end of the day even a target market who clearly know better still went for that green one and largely passed by the red one!
Amazing how predictable we humans are!

Detox Water Myths
It always amazes me as to how the big food companies and even some smaller startups can manage to create a product that is totally unnecessary then sell it!
Modern marketing is truly a thing to behold! Let’s look at detox water.
The reality is that it is water with just a little fruit flavoring added to it so that it can now be called something other than basically what it is… water!
All you have to do is put the word “detox” on the label and now we have water with a purpose!
Combine that with some appealing packaging that implies the need to detox and the product’s ability to detox and we are off to the bank.
Here’s why I am amazed at this one in particular.
There never has been a program, product, diet, routine or anything else that has ever been proven to detox the body. Not one.
But when you look at it why should there be?
The only thing that can actually detox the body is the body itself.
It has all kinds of systems setup to remove toxins and provided you don’t overwhelm it, that system can do a very nice job thank you very much.
Of course there is no product to sell there so hence the need to firstly convince the population they are just walking toxicity time bombs.
From there it’s a simple jump to the left to provide products to satisfy that previously non-existent problem.
Good News on Alzheimer’s
Some interesting news this week on the Alzheimers front with the release of data from a number of studies.
The studies and therapies in question approached the disease from the point of view that perhaps it was not necessarily caused by one factor, that it is largely the result of a number of different factors at work at the same time.
Based on that premise therapy regimes were introduced that were multifaceted in the nature including diet, sleep, exercise, medication, vitamin intake and other factors.
It seems the results produced so far in these trials have been pretty remarkable and have led to the commissioning of further tests.
It is interesting to note that Alzheimers like many of our modern afflictions may indicate response to a multifaceted treatment because the truth may very well be that it’s causes may also be as multifaceted.
Bad Breath Problems
While on the subject of oral hygiene in another article this week I thought it might be an idea to refer to another article taking a slightly different tack.
One of the possible reasons people tend to over brush their teeth ultimately leading to gum recession is the fear of bad breath.
We live in a very odor aware world these days where the idea of a smell of any kind emanating from a human body is treated with horror!
Of course bodies do get a bit whiffy at times and given that most of us are going to be working in close proximity to other humans it is natural to want to not stink every one away.
However bad smells from bodies can also indicate some other problem and this is true when it comes to bad breath.
Of course if you have just eaten a bunch of garlic them bad breath is totally understandable.
On the other hand bad breath can also indicate a range of both oral and digestive problems which if left untreated could lead to a worsening situation.
Gum disease, long term chronic digestive problems and even some kinds of kidney problems can all be signalled by bad breath.
So rather than scrubbing your teeth and gums into oblivion, if you suffer from the is condition get it checked out as there may be an underlying problem at work here.
Brushing Techniques Modified Bass
Video – One problem all of us have as we are ageing is that the body tends to little by little degrade to some degree.
Most of it is just the natural ageing of the body and there is not a lot ewe can do about it but there are others aspects to this process we can either minimize the effects or at least slow it down.
An often forgotten aspect to all of this is teeth care. In most western countries or at least developed countries dental care has become one of those things that is kind of treated as a “given.”
We all know to brush regularly and we all know to get regular check ups at the dentist.
However there is one part of overall dental health that does seem to get a little lost and that is how we take care of our teeth and how to do that while at the same time preserving our gums.
Receding gums is another of those “inevitable” ageing processes that will will all suffer from.
But the important point to remember in all of this is that gum recession although normal can be reducing considerably by simply adjusting how we take care of our teeth.
I can remember as a child at least three different styles of brushing were taught to me by my mother and each one was supposed to be the definitive system at that time.
As it turns out none of them were right anyway!
So for your own sake and especially if you have kids for their sake to check out the video below to get the correct technique for not only effectively brushing your teeth but in a way that is kind to your all important gums.
