Some good news and some bad news this week on the GMO labelling front.
Although in the U.S Senate a bill was passed to require products containing GMOs be labelled as such the way in which the labelling is to be implemented leaves a lot to be desired.
In fact even though food producers are being required to disclose the presence of GMOs the labelling is not actually on the label!
The way they have done it to appease the food producers is to require that as part of the QR Code of the product the GMO information be added.
It’s a sort of “label that you have when you are not having a label.”
The food industry argued that if they added the GMO information actually on the label, people would shun their products for no good reason!
So, in the great tradition of government representatives serving business interests they have agreed to hide it in the QR Code.
Now really, when was the last time you went to a supermarket (or any shot for that matter) and diligently scanned the QR Code of every product to see if there was some kind of added information there? Silly.
My take on it is that all food producers or manufacturers that are using GMO products should have to add that information onto the label full stop.
If they fear a consumer backlash then they need to justify to the public why their product is safe and why the consumer should not have anything to worry about.
This seems to me to be a great example of how screwy things have gotten.
Big food has assumed a position where they can add just about anything to their products and instead of having to establish why that thing is OK they are simple permitted to do it… unless someone dies.
Then, the guinea pig public are subjected to that product for an extended amount of time and it is only if health problems arise that the original product is put under scrutiny.
And even then it still may take years of research and fighting to get the thing removed at all.
To me that represents a complete reversal of how these things should be dealt with.
DIY 10 home remedies to whiten teeth
Natural Teeth Whitening
There are many sites around the internet offering solutions for whitening your teeth.
Unfortunately the majority of them are simple promoting what I would call commercial teeth whiteners.
These are generally slightly watered down versions of the chemicals cocktails a densities would use in a tooth whitening session.
The most common active ingredient in these preparations is hydrogen peroxide which is the same chemical used to bleach hair.
It’s action essentially involves a heavy release of oxygen to whatever it is applied to and that causes the bleaching action.
The strength of the hydrogen peroxide used by dentists in a clinical setting is quite high and that why the dentist will apply a protective layer of rubber or some other kind of barrier to your gums to prevent them getting burned.
Given that you can replicate this very well at home the “over the counter” preparations contain much milder versions of the same thing.
However any way you look at it, it is a pretty toxic way to approach the subject!
There are numerous alternatives to doing it that way so here is a link to one of the simplest and most effective formulas.
It uses ingredients anyone can get a hold of quite easily and is very effective in removing stains from teeth and generally whitening them.
It’s interesting to look at this list of reasons why people suffer from feeling hungry all the time.
If you quickly scan through it you will notice that at no point is a medical condition mentioned on the entire list.
It simply consists of things like not enough sleep, eating to fast and others.
In fact if you look at the list you can see that every cause is a man made cause due to the way we live.
It is a bit of a sad commentary on our lives to see that one commonly reported problem is nothing more than yet another symptom of our hectic and imbalanced lives.
I am certainly not going to go into a long and detailed post here about the many and varied ways one can try to quit smoking.
I think hard won experience in the field has proven that there are many strategies all of which have been successful and unsuccessful.
I think the real bottom line here with quitting is that for everyone there is a strategy that will offer the best chance and if you are trying to stop then you need to be prepared for that.
What that will relate to in the real world is that it may take a few attempts to find the one that suits you through to success.
As they say, no pain no gain and in this field it is very true.
The reality is that you will be attempting to quit one of the most addictive drugs we have today and one of the most damaging.
You cannot expect to start depriving your body of that drug and have no consequences befall you.
Sorry, it just ain’t gonna happen!
The good news is that access to good information gathered over the years is freely available for anyone to access.
Before you embark on such a journey it is best to really educate yourself well on why certain people are most successful with some methods than others then take your best educated guess and go for the one that you think will work.
If that doesn’t pan out do not be discouraged, understand that this is part of a process and move to the next method.
