Drink Your Lemons!
I met a Russian guy years ago and he told me about his theory on lemons.
He had been researching the subject for years from a health standpoint and had actually mapped the process of a person ingesting a whole lemon once per day.
He went on to explain (forever it seemed) about ph levels in the human body and a about a gazillion reactions that take place at different levels of acidity.
The short version of the story was that if you wanted to live forever, eat a whole lemon raw every day of your life.
Forget healthy, we all just want to look good!
Ok, so you can really have it both ways because when it comes to your skin the general consensus is that a healthy person generally has healthy (and good looking) skin!
Of course there are a few super foods that you can add to the mix beyond the usual healthy diet and regular exercise.
Here’s a quick round up of tummy troubles and some courses of action you can undertake to get that thing under control.
This is probably one of the most prevalent conditions connected with modern life and depending on what you suffer from can have its roots in any number of places.
It give the lowdown from acidity to constipation so take a look and maybe you don’t need to suffer as a permanent condition.
More on Cholesterol
So, 20 years after the initial “all cholesterol is bad” and “all cholesterol will kill us” media and medical frenzy finally some of the data that has emerged since then may now be getting some exposure.
As my grandmother suspected, apparently all cholesterol isn’t bad and also it isn’t going to kill us!
I have said before on this site that I am not one to jump on the “all sugar” is bad bandwagon.
I think that moderate intake as part of an otherwise well balanced diet and healthy lifestyle is not in any way harmful. BUT!
The key here is moderate!
Interestingly as part of some other research on another subject I came across one piece of information that says a lot about general attitudes to sugar in the broader community.
Just about all research into the effects of sugar on adults and children as well as research on to what constitutes a reasonable intake of sugar has in some way been financed by the sugar industry itself… be afraid, be very afraid.
Food Babe Attacked!
OK, if you haven’t already you really need to go over to Food Babe and check the site out.
She is one of the few (but increasing) voices that is willing to call out the big food processors on their practices and more importantly their behaviour.
Big food has no interest in health issues or anything else for that matter, they are only interested in profit and will do anything within their considerable powers to stop any bad publicity.
If anyone dares to shine a light on their sometimes discreditable behaviour you can be pretty sure that person will be subjected to an attack of some kind.
Damn Those Taste Buds!
An interesting article published this week on the relationship of how we taste things as compared to levels of obesity.
Apparently not all us taste things in exactly the same way or more accurately we don’t all taste things to the same degree.
Some people taste things to a very hypersensitive degree whilst at the other end of the scale people barely taste at all.
The majority of us fall somewhere in between but it does indicate that people who are less overweight tend to taste strongly and therefore shy away from food as a general rule.
Of course what we can do with that information is totally unclear!
