This is disturbing!
If you are a parent or a teenager you need to look at this video and understand just how fast a car travelling at normal speed on an open road can get into a potentially fatal situation if you take you eyes off the road.
The thing you need to look at in these videos is not just the fact that nearly every one of the drivers got into trouble because of texting while driving.
You also need to look at the fact that doing so got them into emergency situations that required a level of driving expertise they did not have to get out of it safely.
In too many countries across the world the act of driving is treated as though it is some kind of right we all automatically have because of having reached a certain age.
There is very little and at times it seems like no emphasis put on the fact that driving is not a right, it is supposed to be a privilege you get AFTER having displayed at least some proficiency at it.

Dog Drool Rules!
Well it seems that the health benefits of owning a dog may just go a little beyond what has already been established.
Research has shown clearly that having a dog can lower blood pressure and lessen the occurrence of autoimmune diseases.
This new research is taking the line that there also seems to be a possibility that dog saliva contains microbes which, when transferred to humans, can assist in lowering the incidence of allergic reactions.
So the next time you see someone letting the dog lick their face or even their mouth and think it’s totally gross, think again! They may just be getting an immune boost!
Coffee Healthy? Silly!
OK I really don’t think there is any need for this article at all.
Obviously coffee is healthy and good for you… how could anything so good be bad.
However for some of you there is the need for reassurance and the article below should do the trick.
At the top of the article are many, many things listed out that make is quite obvious that coffee is nothing but an awesome super drink that has the word healthy written all over it.
Of course in the interests of balance and fair play the author does go into some downside of coffee consumption and my health advice on this matter is to simply ignore that part of the article and carry on throughout you day feeling totally justified in having that extra cup!

I can’t say that I am too surprised by the article below indicating that milk consumption may be the cause of increased bone fractures rather than a solution to it.
Unfortunately milk and just about all dairy products have suffered from the modern maladies of marketing and processing to the point where it is almost impossible to work out what value they really have.
The idea that milk is a source of calcium is based on dairy industry marketing and not on real fact.
Not only does milk have an unremarkable amount of calcium in it but it is calcium in a form that is very difficult for our bodies to absorb.
Of course that introduces that argument that man has been consuming milk through the ages in some form or another so surely there must be some benefit from it somewhere.
In fact that is probably true.
The problem here is that historically the milk being consumed was raw milk and raw milk was never really consumed in great quantities.
Most often the milk was processed naturally into more longer lasting products such as cheeses and yoghurts and in this processed form offered far greater levels of calcium and that calcium was in a form much easier for the body to absorb.
Sadly these days most of the “natural” processing like that has become decidedly unnatural, the milk itself has been pasteurized and homogenized and the cow stock it is coming from has been drugged, medicated and vaccinated to within an inch of their lives!
You know I see this all the time as I surf my way around the internet and have for some time looked at it and felt there was something so fundamentally wrong with it.
What I am talking about is the pornification of diet, exercise and health in general.
It seems that everywhere you look there are sites promoting exercise and healthy living populated by beautiful people striking erotic poses right out of the porn industry playbook.
Because of that, on one hand you have usually a reasonably good message being sent but on the other hand it is being sent by bodies that are either impossibly sexy and perfect, mostly because of pro lighting, posing and camera work.
The end result is the same old problem of representing health and fitness as being about unhealthy body image.
Ugly Fruit and Vegetables
OK, I came across a scheme like this one at least a years ago that was introduced by a German supermarket chain so let’s not get too excited that the good ol’ USA has come up with some kind of breakthrough.
On the other hand you have to admire the scheme itself because the reality is that for years we have been educated into buying fruits and vegetables based solely on appearance.
That has led to breeding and cross breeding of varieties so as to achieve a perfectly presented,uniform “product” that is appealing to shoppers.
If you have ever wondered what happened to the flavor (or complete lack thereof) of tomatoes now you know the answer.
The current varieties are bred to go red at an even rate once picked, to have an unnaturally long shelf life, to stand up to transportation stresses and to match the mental “picture” in the consumer’s head as to what a tomatoes should look like.
At no time were flavor or nutrition even considered in the process of arriving at the modern tomato varieties.
I would urge you that if you see a scheme like this running locally then give it a try because you will be surprised that you will be getting excellent fruit and veggies that may look a little ugly but what’s on the inside will be awesome.
Still Eating McDonalds?
I am sure nobody really eats at McDonalds anymore and their huge annual profits are based on some source of income other than the sale of stuff at their restaurants.
