Attack Your Anxiety With These Simple Tips
Anxiety is a problem whether chronic, general or better described as panic attacks.
There are ways to effectively deal with it and following tips are here to help you live better and reduce your anxiety overall.
Try to make a habit of staying in the moment.
Now before you look at that and think it sounds about as applicable as hugging a tree, bear with me.
Anxiety, apprehension, nervousness and even panic are all related to one core emotional reaction in humans we call fear.
Fear occurs when there is a clear and present danger to the person, the others occur when there is an unclear danger, a possibility of danger or even a suggestion of danger.
Anxiety is simply a natural reaction that places the person on alert ready to initiate the flight or fight mechanism that is part of out make up.
It is actually a survival mechanism that has served us very well.
Unfortunately for some of us this mechanism goes into action for no apparent reason and stays in action for extended periods of time.
By staying in the moment you reduce the possibility of your mind wandering and mistakenly identifying something in your environment as being potentially dangerous.
This means that you need to make a conscious effort to hold your attention on what is happening around each and every moment so that your mind follows you and not the other way around.
An excellent exercise anyone can do to increase you ability to do that is by “meditating on the breath” for half an hour each day.
There is nothing mysterious about this technique nor is it complicated.
Simply sit comfortably in a quiet place, close your eyes and concentrate on the act of breathing.
Why does this work? Simple, the act of breathing is happening constantly in the present and by concentrating on it you therefore, stay in the present.
