Yay! More Caffeine!
Woohoo! Last week is was all good news on the chocolate front the this week I can hardly believe it got better.
Apparently we can have way more coffee than we though we could.
This is awesome news for me cos’ I thought I could have a whole bunch of coffee so now it appears I can have a whole bunch more than I thought!
Liquid Hand Soap
If you have kids then you know having some good hand soap is an essential part of the house.
However getting them to use it and handle it in a manner that doesn’t leave it dissolving in a puddle of water so that most of it just slime’s its way down the drain is another thing.
Check out this great recipe for a liquid hand soap that actually just uses soap but presents it in a way that is far more user (kid) friendly!
5 Minute Meditation
The key to getting any benefit at all from meditation is to repeat it regularly and on the daily or even twice daily schedule.
Very often you will hear of people complaining that it did nothing for them and in just about every case you will find they did not practice regularly and consistently.
In a world desperately seeking instant solutions and cures something like meditation gets pushed aside because it is anything but instant!
If you really want to get some benefit from it, and let me assure you that you can, then you need to start with some self discipline by setting aside time every day to practice.
Strange Celiac Disease Symptoms
I am always a little reluctant to get into the whole “gluten intolerance” thing because most of the blurb on it seems to focus on how to get around it rather than what causes it in the first place.
The science on it is pretty clear that really the only people who should be gluten intolerant are those differing from Celiac Disease.
Of course this doesn’t really help those people who are gluten intolerant but I really think the reason for that intolerance is not the gluten itself.
I actually believe it is due to the horrific manner in which crops, especially wheat crops are saturated with poisons prior to harvesting in order to maximize yields. Yes Monsanto, I am looking at you!
However if we focus on Celiac disease as a condition that really needs to be taken seriously in itself I think we are doing a better job.
In fact there are a number of symptoms of this disease that are not just relatively unknown but are actually quite strange!
Really folks, the fact that someone wrote this article is a bit disappointing but there you have it.
Obviously common sense would dictate what would be helpful or appropriate to say to someone with an eating disorder and what wouldn’t.
Clearly common sense isn’t quite as common as some would have us believe.
Exercise and Memory
I’m somehow not surprised by this article below.
If you have even gone from leading a rather sedentary lifestyle to one of a more active nature one thing you would have noticed is that you somehow feel smarter, brighter, more alert.
Well there is a whole bunch of science behind this but the bottom line is that we have bodies that were designed to move.
They run better when they are moving, they feel better when they are moving and if you don’t move them, they die… or at least start to.
Normal brain function is that same as any other normal function within the body.
In a moving one it too runs better and and the benefits go on and on.
More Labelling News
OK, Food Babe is at it again and really if you are not reading her blog you are just not trying.
This week she launches into labelling and with good reason.
You know when you are at the store and you are trying to do the right thing and buy the healthy stuff or the good stuff or at least the stuff that didn’t involve the needless deaths of cute puppies or anything you read the label.
The problem is these days that when you read the label you feel good for a while until you get home and then REALLY read the label.
It is usually at this point that you realize the label made you feel good enough to but it but in reality you don’t really understand what the label is actually saying!
You know when you get a cold and you spend a day constantly blowing and wiping your nose and you use tissues because no-one seems to use handkerchiefs these days and then you get that sore nose thing?
Boy I hate that.
It seems to me to be the perfect insult to add to the existing injury!
Why not try out this home-made balm to soothe those cares away… well to make your nose feel a bit better anyway.
In this modern age, suffering from an almost constant state of nervousness, or experiencing anxiety or suffering from outright panic attacks is becoming an increasingly common complaint.
The medicos don’t really have a solution other than drugs which most people really don’t like. So is there an alternative?
Well a lot of people have gained at least some degree of relief through the use of herbs so if this is a problem for you why not give it a try to see how it goes.
OK, this is well worth taking a look at.
On a health blog you expect to see lots of stuff on well, health, right?
Just as important it is a good idea to have a little knowledge on the subject of ill-health especially when it comes to trying to navigate your way around the modern food chain.
So here is a list of foods that are the most common sources of some kind of problem or another when it comes to health.
Reduce Those Medical Bills
It is always so easy to just grab something at the pharmacy or hit the doctor when you have any of those small day to day ills that we get.
But the truth is that those little visits end up costing us money and with a little foresight and knowledge we can do it so much better and a lot cheaper.
When you look at it the truth is that most of those aches and pains and coughs and cold are not in any way handled by medicine.
Most of them have no real cures and the medicines we do use are generally in the form of chemicals to suppress symptoms. So why bother?
Why not use something cheaper and in most cases just as effective at relieving symptoms.
Composting Your Way to Fun and Profit!
As I was growing up my father’s gardening habits changed dramatically.
He started out with the idea of spraying god knows what chemicals left right and center in an effort to eradicate anything from competing with him or his precious veges.
Then one day he read a book called The Lazy Gardener.
Almost overnight he changed everything and without knowing it, he went organic!
One of his prized possessions was the composting station he created.
All our vegetable food scraps, the lawn clippings, leaves everything went into the composter and he turned out piles of incredibly rich fertilizer for his garden.
Breakfast of Champions
The unfortunate reality of the average cereal sold to consumers with snappy marketing catchphrases such as “vitamin enriched,” “high protein” and “high in fiber” is that they are anything but healthy.
As the first processed food of the modern era clearly they are a success story but the reality is that they are just cheap commodities like corn, wheat and rice processed within an inch of their lives mixed with sugar and sprayed with fake vitamins, minerals and protein powder.
In fact the whole processing sequence renders them almost without any food value whatsoever, hence the need to artificially add some stuff back.
